Luxembourg blog part 1 …

Every time we’ve been to Luxembourg something untoward has happened. Because of this Luxembourg has been a place that we tend to drive through without stopping! In this Luxembourg blog, let me give you an example of what happened to us the last two times that we did stop there.

The angry man

A few years back we drove into Luxembourg city only to find parking to be incredibly difficult. So when we eventually found a space, we were relieved. On leaving the car, we were promptly met by a man who started shouting really aggressively at us in Luxembourgish. We thought wow, maybe we’re not legally allowed to be there – we were! Despite trying to placate the guy, he was relentless in his shouting. So eventually we felt that it just wasn’t worth the effort to stay! Bizarre!

The Waitress

Another time, we stopped for some food in a motorway service station. Having chosen what we wanted, we were met by a waitress who took one look at us and stated very loudly, ‘Oh my god!’ and walked away! Again … bizarre!

‘Oh my god!’, said the waitress!
‘Oh my god!’, said the waitress!

Who knows why these things happened, but it’s really shaped how we see Luxembourg!

Is Luxembourg any good?

Accordingly we’ve sourced a road trip route that should take us around the mountains – yes mountains, who knew? – and provide us with some of the best sights. Hopefully this will change our view of the country. We are determined not to be let down this time!

A game of conkers, anyone?

As an aside, on a positive note about the place, I do recall seeing lots of conkers on the ground when on a school trip at the age of 12 – that was good – at the time! 😉
