New Zealand road trip – Let’s explore here
On our last New Zealand road trip, we arrived in Auckland and hired a car to travel around North Island and a camper van to explore South Island. We also took the Coastal Pacific train from Picton to Christchurch, which provides lovely view of the Kaikōura coastline. The route is around 1,775 miles (2,860 km) long.
The North island is very different from the South Island, in particular in the temperature difference and in the climate. After spending some weeks down at the bottom of the South Island, upon returning to Auckland was quite a shock, it was so much warmer. If I were to live in New Zealand, I would definitely live in the far north of the country 🙂

This is the route that we took through New Zealand on our travels:
Auckland – Whangarei – Tutukaka – Hamilton – Rotorua – Lake Taupo – Wellington – Picton – Christchurch – Lake Tekapo – Queenstown – Manapouri – Dunedin – Timaru – Christchurch – Auckland
More information on this journey and photographs of places we visited can be found on the New Zealand page.
We’re also creating blogs for each country when we have data, or we can find decent wifi, and we have enough power!
