When you’re travelling overland by vehicle, you’ll need to plan whether you need visas to enter the countries. Many countries now offer an online eVisa service, however some require you to visit embassies / consulates in person. Some even require that any visa application can only be made in the country that you are a citizen of. Clearly this can be a pain if you are already on the road! Sending your passport back to the UK and receiving it back safely can also be fraught with danger, causing unneeded anguish.
